   Purchased this as part of a kitchen remodel. After all, mama needs her juice! So far it’s worked well. It has a decent amount of space behind it for air flow. The handle was indeed difficult to get on, and the provided screw was quite visibly too short. A quick trip to the hardware store rectified this. It seems a shame they included the wrong one. It keeps consistent temperature. I can hear it when it turns on, but we did a little sound-proofing inside the island it’s mounted in, so it isn’t terribly noticeable. For the price-point, it’s acceptable. If you absolutely can’t stand such things, get a different brand/make/model.

   I bought this 2.5yrs ago for our kitchen. The initial one had a little gap between the door gasket and the unit. idealwinecoolers.com was great about exchanging it as it was obviously a defect. For the last 2.5yrs it’s been running fine, a little louder than prefered but fine, considering it is a cooling unit. It looked nice and kept our wine nice and chill. Then recently I started noticing that it wasn’t cooling anymore. The thermostat was set to it’s regular 57 but it was at room temperature, around 77. The unit just failed.

   I am so extremely happy I decided to buy a warranty for this unit, I just filed a claim and am now on the market for another unit. I will definitely NOT buy this brand again.

   I’m having the the same problem as reported by others. First, it is/was very noisy. I’ve had it installed about three months and now it won’t cool. I’m guessing it’s a total loss- I will try a warrant claim, but looks like I’d be on the hook for shipping both ways so don’t think it’s worth the cost.

   Added 1/8/17 – The door has a tendency to not stay shut. I added a latch and it works fine now (see photos) The latch is Dreambaby Refrigerator Latch, Silver. Got lousy reviews because it is a self adhesive latch and falls off after a while, so you will want to anchor it with some small sheet metal screws. Great wine cooler. Would have given it 5 stars except we had to send the original one back. It failed to cool after the third day. The company was very good about the return however, paid for pick up and all shipping. The new one arrived very promptly and has run flawlessly since. There were comments about excessive noise, but this one is very quiet. It is in a bar in our family room right by the seating for the TV and hardly noticeable. It says it will store 33 bottles, but will only store 18 regular sized 750 ml wine bottles. Ours is in a bar and also serves as a refer. We intended to store sodas (2 liter bottles) and beer in it as well as wine. Two liter bottles require removing a shelf and even at that, you can only put (2) two liter bottles on one shelf. Standard 12 oz cans will work pretty well. You can store 3 rows deep 4 cans across each or 12 cans per shelf. You can also store standard long neck 12 oz beer bottles, but only one row of 3 per shelf. The shelf is not long enough for 2 rows, and the wire shelves are a bit too widely spaced in 2 places on each shelf, so will fall through. You might be able to store a combination of cans and bottles though. One other consideration if you are going to have it double as a refer is that it will only get to 39 deg, and you may like your sodas a little colder than that. Great for IPAs or craft beers that you may like a little “warmer” (39 vs 34 degrees from a standard refer) All in all, it is a good buy, works well and meets our needs.

   I really like the looks. Easy to put in and set up. Adjusts temps fine and works great. BUT the first day it was working it was really quiet, the second day noticeably louder, third day even worse. Wish I knew it would get this loud or I wouldn’t have gotten it. Much louder than my fridge next to it. Can hear all over the room and the room next to it. Be sure this isn’t a problem for you.

   Great price and look. The problem is the door won’t seal. I’ve never had this issue with a refrigerator ever. I tried adjustments and called for support. They say it may have a bad gasket. Brand new unit! This thing is very loud as well. I’m waiting for resolution or it’s going back.

    Incorrect handle screws, no manufacturer support, not entirely quiet. We replaced a built-in ice maker from the previous owner with a “thermoelectric” wine cooler, which had trouble keeping the temperature in the summer, as those are meant to be free standing. So when the LEDs started to go on the cooler, we search for something better. Enter this SPT. Decent reviews on idealwinecoolers.com. Ordered. Did arrive with some damage to the box, but the unit was intact. Let it sit for a day as recommended. Dimensions were good to fit in the cabinet space. Plugged it in. Nice and quiet. Time for the handle. We could not mount the handle. The screw ends protrude only 3mm through the door frame. Not enough to engage the recessed nut inside the handle. Also saw that both the nuts inside the handle were recessed and off-angle (not centered in the tube, but touching one sidewall). No adjustment possible (only loosening which lets the handle rattle from the two braces). Contacted the manufacturer directly. The second day we did notice the unit ran a little louder as well. If you sit anywhere nearby in 10-15-20ft quietly reading a book or trying to take a nap/sleep. You will hear it. In fact you will hear its circulator fan turn on/off every ten secs if you sit within 10ft. As soon as the TV or radio is on a bit. Not an issue. No manufacturer response for over a week, regarding the handle, screws nor the fan turning on/off every 10 secs! But the unit was an exact fit for the space. Seems to cool fine. So, I broke down and just bought some 4mm screws that were longer than those provided. The provided screws were only a tad longer than 1 1/4 and I needed 1 1/2 metric equivalent length. (don’t get 8/32 thread, doesn’t work) Of course the screw heads on the new metric screws were too big for the door (could not buy same head size nearby at the hardware store), so I had to grind those heads down. Last hurdle, the off kilter recessed nuts, which pointed both away wider than the screw heads. I had to most carefully tighten both screws alternately one turn at a time to get the handle mounted. If I did one screw first, there was no way I could get the other one to grip. Didn’t want to strip a screw, so held handle away and started both screws. Easy and slowly did it. The last couple mm were a bit touch and go, had to switch to slotted and use more pressure as the phillips head started to go, but since the screws were already a few mm in, they did not strip. Mounted. Done. As with any fridge the shelf spacing is a bit too narrow to fit sparkling wines and champagnes, which have a slightly wider bottle. Overall, a few weeks in, we like it. A customer should not have to DIY Parts though and hopefully if we ever need service, the manufacturer will actually respond.
