This I’d a great wine frig! It is in fact a refrigerator not a cooler. A lot of people complain about the sound, probably because they are used to a cooler. I find this to be almost as quiet as a cooler. With way better cooling capability. There is a very small amount of noise when the compressor kicks in but it is negligible. The frig is very stylish and holds a lot of wine and keeps it at temp. The interior light is a plus for style, looks cool! I would highly recommend this product. Great for the price as well. Cheers!

Conventional wisdom tells you that extended warranties are rarely used, and thus not a wise buy. I long trusted Consumer Reports on this topic. However, we’ve been through lots of gleamingly handsome but otherwise throwaway appliances over the past decade. Processors and compressors give up the ghost—sadly far too often. The warranty from what is now Allstate paid off on the last wine fridge with the compressor dying in just over a year. It was replaced with the same model and it lasted another three. What about this Ivation?
Obviously too soon to tell but the company is reputable in terms of being around for awhile having a complete wine fridge product line. Note that the one with the stainless and wood trim does get beter reviews by far in terms of noise. That’s why I spent more for the stainless version when I otherwise would have saved the money since black looks great too. So silver it is.

I liked this wine cooler initially but noticed the sides of were heating up to a very hot level. I live in a small apartment in the south and do not need excessive heat in my rooms. It uses a compressor and chilled the wine in very short order so if you don’t mind the heat coming from it then this product works well and I also thought it was very quite. I would assume it uses more electricity as well, more so than the passive coolers using the Peltier method of cooling. Peltier coolers don’t cool as well but if you want 65 or so they work fine and are quiet and don’t use much electricity or put out much heat. I think I will switch to that method.

Very poor particle wood shelving and weak frame for door handle. Shelving came broken. The screw broke the metal frame as soon as attempting to place the door handle on. Would not recommend. Shoddy build.

After researching and getting some responses to questions here on idealwinecoolers.com from other owners, I’ve been pleased with this wine refrigerator. The noise level is acceptable; not really any worse than a normal fridge, though I think if the back had a cover (over the compressor area), it would mute the sound more. Probably necessary to be open for ventilation purposes. On the plus side, it only comes on maybe twice per hour and for only about 1 minute at a time. I have mine in the main room near the TV, and if the TV is on, don’t really notice it. In terms of questions I had asked about storing pinot noir sized bottles, pleased to report that there is no issue. In fact, the bottom couple shelves have more spacing between them than the top 3 (sort of saw that in the photos, but wasn’t sure until I got it). Pinot bottles fit just fine; can alternate direction to get 4 across. I did invert the second shelf from the top to create 2 larger slots (lose one space) to allow larger-width bottles there. Checked temp with a thermometer and it is within +/-3 degrees. Overall, very happy with this product so far!
