I received the cooler today. The motor is quite and cooled very quickly. There is a small flange just below the door that is very fragile and was bent during moving in my home using a furniture dolly. This prevented the door from closing but it was easily bent back in to place and the door shut as designed, manufacture should consider a redesign. I gave the cooler a 3 stars because I have only had it a day. I will continue to update my post. My last wine fridge lasted only 1 year before it died (for the record it was a different brand). So I’m very apprehensive about the longevity of the cooler.

Dual temperature zones is a big plus. On the downside, the racks are too close together, and bottles scrape against the rack above, which is really annoying, damaging the labels. Some bottles tend to be “fatter”. At least one of the racks will not hold any of those common bottles. Bottles also tend to roll around, especially if the rack isn’t full. Bottom rack won’t support some wine bottles that are tall and slender, like those that some dessert wines tend to come in.

Ok. Not the greatest construction. Shelves are not deep enough for some of the bottles (Champagne) and a bit flimsy. Tends to get very hot. Will do for now. On the positive it does keep the wines cool and st the correct temperature. Hopefully it will last 3 or 4 years and then I’ll upgrade.

Product came with a fair size dent in the rear, wasn’t too worried about this because we were putting it in a built-in. But the real issue was the front door handle, it was hanging on by two screws that didn’t even fit. Had to take it to my work shop to fit it with the correct size screws, take off the molding, drill etc etc. So far its been a week and yes its keeping the wine cool. My issue is with the manufacturer and the way this ship these stupid things! Buy in stores if you can!!!

I have seen a few reviews about this unit being noisy but I have not found that to be the case AT ALL, in fact quite the opposite, very quiet. I like the fact that so many bottles can be fit into the unit but it can be a challenge with bottles that have a non-traditional shape. Fortunately, 2 of the areas are a little larger to account for this. The direction of the bottles have to be alternated to maximize the space but if you keep your varietals grouped together the inconvenience is minimal even if you can’t see the label unless you pull the drawer all the way out. Great value, had it for over 6 months now.

I ordered a new one because, one of the corners was damaged. I must now go to UPS to ship it back, product to big to be carried on my car. The new one that I received is even worse. The bottom of the unit is so crooked that it cannot stays balanced.

The fridge is operating as expected so far. The star reduction comes from the alleged bottle capacity – if you’re hoping to get 38 bottles in, time to lower your expectations. Wine bottles are not as uniform as Danby believes and I have yet to get more than 30 bottles in when you combine the limited capacity of the bottom two shelves and bottles simply being longer than “standard.”

After reading dozens of on-line reviews, most of which complained about receiving a damaged unit, I decided to take a chance and order one, since we had one similar before that broke. Like so many of the reviews from various on-line sources mine arrived damaged and it’s also making a strange rattling sound when the motor starts. I have to haul this 100 lb unit back to the post office.

I installed this cooler in about 10 minutes including time to unpack. The carton was damaged but the unit is packed well enough that there was no damage to the cooler. I am going to reverse the door so that will take a bit of time but so far the unit is cooling and it is very quiet. I actually had to feel the compressor to see if it was running. I’d recommend this wine cooler.

A Danby wine cooler came with the house we bought 3 years ago. The owners told us they bought it when they built the house. It worked fine for three years and failed a couple months ago. That would have made it 20 years old. We replaced it with this one that appears to be the exact same model. They seem expensive relative to other wine coolers but if the new one last 20 years I’ll be happy. Very quiet, good customer service and holds temperature well.
